A lot of people are hoping that, since the cancellation, WoT will be picked up by another network.
I don't think it will happen. I didn't mind the show and while I have some beef with it, even the quality of the show isn't the reason I don't believe it will be picked up again.
This could have been the best received series of all time and no one would touch it now.
Why? Because it is an unknown factor now.
Basically, WoT is a show based on an existing IP with an existing fanbase. What was completed of the existing TV Series drifted so far from the books that it alienated that fanbase.
This is a problem because there is no built-in audience for what comes next. The book fans have no reason to come along because the storyline from the books is no longer recoverable. And, even the TV show fans aren't a guarantee. In fact, they are especially not guaranteed here.
Another unique factor here is that WoT was on Prime Video. This is a streaming service many people simply get because they subscribe for some other reason. I don't keep my Prime Subscription for the video service. And that leads into another problem... it is a show from a streaming service. It is hard to tell how many people simply enjoyed the show because it was on the service vs. paid for a Prime membership to watch it.
Any other platform is going to want to feel confident that picking up this IP will drive revenue up.
The problems don't end there. Changing who own it is going to mean new contracts for the actors and actresses. And that inevitably means that some cast will leave and need to be replaced. This will hurt even the Prime show devotees. As I said, it is an unknown factor.
I don't think Wheel of Time will be touched again for years. It will wait until Rafe and Co. have given up on revival because it is only going to happen without them and from scratch.
A faithful adaptation would have brought both book and TV shows fans. A brand new IP would bring less baggage. Both would still have risks and be a hard sell. I wish them luck in shopping the idea around. To me, it just doesn't seem likely.
